Hi there,
Happy Monday! Here are a few things to kick off your week.
📖 Something to Read:
I am a voracious reader. Whether it's listening to an Audible while running or traveling, diving into an ebook before bed, or snuggling up with a physical copy, I'm in love with my reading life. While I read many books for pleasure, only a handful leave a lasting impact. Recently, I stumbled upon one such gem that I simply can't shake off: "The School for Good Mothers," a 2022 debut novel by the talented Jessamine Chan. It's not a light read by any means, but it's undeniably worth it. If you read it, you have to let me know what you think!
🔊 Something to Listen to:
I recently had the pleasure of joining the Unpacking Education podcast, and the conversation was a blast. Whether you're out for a walk or on your morning commute, pop in some earbuds and let us share some insights about MTSS with you. If you've been trying to get a colleague onboard with MTSS, this episode is a solid intro, if I say so myself! 😉
UDL Now! is now available in Spanish and will be available as an audiobook in December (I read it for the recording myself!!)
ELA educators: A version of UDL Now! written specifically FOR YOU - is coming your way this November 14th. Read all about it!
I couldn't have done it without your support. Thank you! I LOVE the education community. Now, check out the video below!
💠Something to Make You Think:
October is often regarded as one of the most challenging months for teachers. Instead of dwelling on the months ahead, shift your focus to growth. Don't wait until May to engage in self-reflection. Start now and then extend that conversation to your students.
My colleague, Catlin Tucker, and I have crafted a resource to aid students in continuous self-reflection. Now is the perfect time to introduce this tool. Explore the resource here, and if you're looking for guidance on its implementation, delve into the accompanying blog. Let's get those young minds reflecting!
😄 Something just for fun!
My son, Brec, asked for permission to "own" his school picture in a way that captured his personality. I wasn't sure what he had in mind, but I'm always supportive of creativity and innovation, so I gave him the green light. What came back was, well... see for yourself. He definitely owned it.
